We priests should feel that the following words, which he put on the lips of Christ, are meant for each of us personally: "I will charge my ministers to proclaim to sinners that I am ever ready to welcome them, that my mercy is infinite". From Saint John Mary Vianney we can learn to put our unfailing trust in the sacrament of Penance, to set it once more at the centre of our pastoral concerns, and to take up the "dialogue of salvation" which it entails. The Curé of Ars dealt with different penitents in different ways. Those who came to his confessional drawn by a deep and humble longing for God's forgiveness found in him the encouragement to plunge into the "flood of divine mercy" which sweeps everything away by its vehemence. If someone was troubled by the thought of his own frailty and inconstancy, and fearful of sinning again, the Curé would unveil the mystery of God's love in these beautiful and touching words: "The good Lord knows everything. Even before you confess, he already knows that you will sin again, yet he still forgives you. How great is the love of our God: he even forces himself to forget the future, so that he can grant us his forgiveness!". But to those who made a lukewarm and rather indifferent confession of sin, he clearly demonstrated by his own tears of pain how "abominable" this attitude was: "I weep because you don't weep", he would say. "If only the Lord were not so good! But he is so good! One would have to be a brute to treat so good a Father this way!".

PRAYER FOR THE YEAR OF THE PRIEST
Lord Jesus, that in St. John Mary Vianney you wanted to donate to the Church a moving image of your pastoral charity, he, that, in his company and supported by his example, may we live in fullness this Priestly life. Pausing as he was before the Eucharist, we can learn how simple, everyday of your words that teaches us; tender love to welcome repentant sinners; consoling abandonment confident your Immaculate Mother. Lord Jesus, who, through the intercession of the Holy Curé d'Ars, the Christian families to become "small Churches" in which all vocations and all the gifts, donated by your Holy Spirit, can be welcomed and valued. Grant us, Lord Jesus, you can repeat with the same fervor of the Holy Curé the words with which he used to contact you:
"I love you, O my God, and my only desire is to love you till the last breath of my life.
I love you, infinitely loving God, and I prefer to die amandoti rather than live one moment without love.
I love you, Lord, and the only grace that you wonder is to love you forever.
My God, if my language can not tell you at all times that I love you, I want my heart we'll repeat times as many times as breathing. I love you, O my Divine Savior, because you have been crucified to me, and keep me down here with you crucified.
My God, make me the grace to die amandoti and knowing that I love you. " Amen.

Some Reflections on the Priesthood
.....We need, priests and community together, to risk some new directions. There are risks in this of course, but, as Goethe once put it; 'The dangers of life are infinite and safety is among them'."

What is a vocation?
God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life.....
How do I explore a Vocational Calling?
The first thing to do is to live the present moment. God will always make himself present to you where he expects to find you. If you are baptized, he will expect to find you working to develop your life of grace, overcoming sin. He plans to meet you in the sacraments (confession, Eucharist), and in prayer. ......
